Greetings. I'm new here and I'm doing some preliminary work on a possible move to Vietnam.
The question is whether it's possible, as an American on a 90 day tourist visa, to bring certain electronic equipment into Vietnam. I'm in Thailand with this stuff now, if that makes a difference. I have a laptop, a couple IPads, and some stereo equipment that I'd rather not leave behind if I make the move. I can pay for the shipping cost (FedEx, DHL, etc) or, perhaps, bring some or all of it with me in my luggage or as "excess baggage" and pay whatever the cost would be for that
Has anyone gone through this?
I asked the Grok AI abut this and it flat out said I couldn't import such things into Vietnam. That doesn't sound right, so I thought I ask here.
Update: I figured it out. Grok just gave me a stupid answer.
People can bring computers and such into the country for "reasonable use."
Otherwise, if you properly declare items when shipping, import duties are something like 10% or 15%. So, all in all, no big deal.
Thanks
